This particular vehicle is fitted with a 'wireless house rear body'
which has remained virtually original since being released from the
services in 1961.
The rear of the truck is equipped with a No 22 radio set and is
complete with a set of Ariel masts and all the original switchgear and
lockers.
The power for the radio set comprises of a set of 4 lead acid
batteries. These are kept charged by means of either a generator
mounted under the rear body and driven by the truck engine via a PTO on
the gearbox or, alternatively, a lightweight 80 watt petrol engine
generator is housed in the box on the driver's step.
This type of vehicle was used just behind the advancing troops to relay
signals between the advancing troops and the command post.
Little is known of the military history of this vehicle although there
are several coats of original green paint as well as a coat of RAF blue.
