The 43rd Reconnaissance Regiment LHG is always interested in recruiting new members into the group.
A strong interest in the Reconnaissance Corps or the British Army of 1939-1945 is desirable, as is a good basic knowledge of the history of that era.
As we represent an armoured unit, an interest in matters mechanical and British armour of the period would also be useful, but not essential. Owners of suitable Military vehicles would be most welcome, but again ownership of a military vehicle is not necessary, provided the previously listed requirements are met.
Applicants should be willing to spend up to six weekends a year at events (including an annual training weekend), living in period clothing and conditions and will be required to obtain the correct clothing and equipment at their own cost. In addition, an annual subscription of £50 is payable, primarily to cover the cost of Public Liability Insurance.
Whilst our main aim is to be worthy of the men we represent and to perpetuate their memory, we deem it essential that our activities should also be fun. Coupled with the ability to endure the cold, the wet and occasional discomfort, applicants should have a good sense of humour and enjoy mucking in with the rest of the team.
We will do our best to help provide whatever you need in terms of kit and training and would be pleased to answer any queries. Please contact us initially via our e.mail - enquiries@43rdrecce.co.uk
